  • We dont like paying you, but.............

I went yesterday to give the government my autograph, as per last post.

You are supposed to be there for a set time, which is a load of rubbish because you never get seen at that time or by the same person. Anyway, when they finally call your name and sit you down in fornt of them they ask you questions, what have you been doing to find work, is the main one. The problem is you dont have to provide proof of any of the answers you give them, though you are supposed to, each time I have tried they say 'Oh we dont want to see that' Erm so what was the point in giving me it to fill in every week then?

Yesterday I went through the whole rigmarole as per normal, including advising them that I even am registered with their own website, then the guy I am seeing, who by the way decided he was a comedian:roll: says I think I have just the job for you and prints me off the paper.

I sat looking at it and starts giggling, he asks me whats wrong, I says this is for a job here, he says yes, ideal for you, I then says but you are sending me to an agency I am alrady registered with, to get an interview to come here for a job, yes he says. So I wait a moment and then I say, well why cant you just interview me now as I am alrady here?

Oh no, they cannot do that, applications end 7th July, and this job hasn't even been advertised yet on their jobsite, apparently was supposed to stay internal and they have just decided to send it out. I was giggling all the way home, what a stupid way of doing things!!!:))

So they dont want to pay me unemployment, and instead will pay me a wage? :))

And how has your day been toda?

  • Ho Hummmmmmm

While the rest of England bathed in the sun yesterday in good old yorkshire it poured it down, you would have thought that would have made it cooler and nicer for us here, but no, the temperature remained high and because of the rain the humidity soared. The only way to keep cool was to actually stand in the rain that was falling and even that was warm. Unfortunately standing in the rain and allowing yourself to become soaking wet has the disadvantage of you waking up sneezing, sniffling and with a thick head, you would think at my age I would learn :))

Todat the sun was already cracking the flags at 6am despite the lingering clouds it was already hot, a day for a river trip maybe? am going a nice delicate shade of gold on my arms, though my legs have yet to see the sun as jeans seem to have become my second skin since my enforced 'retirement' I may give them a treat at some point though I wouldn't count on it :))

Today I go and sign on the dotted line and hope that maybe this time they will actually pay me, they suspended me for leavng my job, what a joke, I supplied them with the letter that clearly stated I had been dismissed, of course I have appealed but it takes twelve weeks, meanwhile I was without money during the suspension, I asked them if the person that had made the decision had actually read the letter or in fact if he could actually read, but sadly they appeared to lack a sense of humor! So I have photocopied the page that states I was dismissed and paid a weeks wages in lieu of notice and stapled it to the appeal letter also writing in block capitals that I had done so, maybe this time someone will take some notice of it, of course that depends upon their ability to actually read :))

And now off to do something productive, dont ask what because I do not have a clue, but it will be I assure you :))

Have a great day and I will be back, later a t some point

  • Lie Game answer is................

    Number 2 was correct.

I have to say that I am touched that you all believe in my honesty or that I am too clever to get caught

Although it is not entirely a lie (cough) the lie is that I have never been arrested, the fact is that I have twice walked out of a shop wihtout paying for something, accidently of course :)) The first time I was home before I knew and my son asked if he could play with his new car, I hadn't bought one and said so, he tole me it was in the bag, and sure enough it was, he was two at the time.

And the second time it was just one of those things where you have hold of something and you are rushing round, and me having a crowd phobia makes it worse, because as a shop fills my need to leave greatens. Have to admit though I kept expecting that hand on the shoulder once I had realised what I had done.

So there you go, yes Adamantixx and notbob I have sunbathed naked on Changi beach, I was 3 at the time ;)

  • The lie game

Apparently I make three statements and you try to guess which is a lie.

    So here goes

    1) I sunbathed naked on Changi Beach (Singapore)

    2) I got arrested for 'accidently' walking out of a shop with an unpaid item

    3) I have had semi erotic dreams about a blogger

    So which is the lie?

  • Alarm Cat

Every weekend the cat and I have a routine, I get up at stupid o clock to make my sons sandwiches and get him up for work, she gets up with me and the first thing I do is give her big loves and then feed her, I potter about doing what needs to be done and she wanders round after me talking away and sometimes getting under my feet, but mainly just wanting a pet every now and then.

When I go upstairs to waken my son, she comes with me, she will wander around the bed miowing at him as I am shaking him and telling him to get up, my son can hold a full conversation in his sleep and appear awake, on occasion when I have woken him and he has said yes he is getting up, I have gone downstairs and he has nodded back off, when I go down the cat comes with me and then spends her time wandering up and down the stairs, if my son nods back off the cat comes and makes a great fuss in the doorway, I always know that means he has gone back to sleep and off I go to reawaken him.

Yesterday I did the very rare and unprecedented act of sleeping in, having had no sleep for several days I finally succumbed about half an hour before the alarm went off and slept right through it. I jumped out of bed an hour and a half after my son had to be at work, he had left so I decided I would go see him on my way to my Mothers and find out how late he had been. It turned out that he wasn't later at all, apparently at 5.25 the Cat had jumped on the bed and started slapping his face with her paws and yowling at him, he woke up and checked the time, noticed there was no coffee at the side of him and realised I had slept in, he dozed back off and after five minutes the cat started batting his face again and yowling at him. He then got up and sorted himself out and set off to work.

I laughed when he told me what had happened, I told him, all we have to do now is teach her how to make his sandwiches and flask and I dont have to get up again with him :))

They say that animals dont know, but I have never believed that having seen the things that they are capable of doing, and this is just one more piece of evidence that proves that they know a lot more than we give them credit for ;)

  • Chilling Wednesday

It is Wednesday, the middle of the week, though all weeks are much the same at the moment and don't really have a middle I am keeping to the tradition of calling this day the middle, so two days since the weekend and two days to go to the weekend, ir there a relevance to this I hear you say, well actually no, but who cares?

It is a beautiful day here as was yesterday, and I will be spending much of it helping mother to sort her wordly goods in to bags and boxes ready for the upcoming sojourn to my sisters, she is supposedly only there for a few weeks while they modernise the bungalow, but who knows it may be for longer, one never can tell what the future is going to bring.

The nice thing about going to Mothers and back, apart from the exercise the six mile round trip walk gives me, is the lovely views on the way there and back, and I get to chill and do things at a slower pace than I would normally, well she is 83, and doesn't like to do things too fast, or orderly

So sunshine, pleasent views and nice chilled walk there and back, what else could anyone want to make a good day, well there are some things, but I cannot do anything about that at the moment.

Hope everyone is having a good, chilled Wednesday, catch you later

  • Back again, I think?

Well it has been a little while since a post, mainly due to the wild swings of my moods at the moment. I have been visiting every day and leaving comments, but each time I do a post and then read it back I delete it (wonder if this one will 'go all the way'?)

One minute I am upbeat and everything is fine, well as fine as it can be when you are unemployed and have no money, lol.

And the next I am sliding headlong down that black pit as yet another thing comes along to kick me while I am down :(

And in between I am dealing with feelings of inadequacy and feelings of elation? Dont ask cos even I dont know, its like being on a bloomin roller coaster!

There are a lot of drawbacks to having to much time on your hands, for a start you think too much, and that is never a good thing. And then you are suddenly spending more time with people that you spent little tme with before and finding that you might not like them as much as you first thought you did as you find out things about their character that are really not very nice.

And thats about it realy for this sunny monday, dont want to get too moany do we :)

Hope you are all having a good day :)

  • Friday is.......

Sometimes days seem to go just right dont they?

You know you have lots to do, you are not looking forward to doing it, then you get a lift to your spirit/mood whatever you want to call it, out of the blue and everything else just seems to fall neatly into place.

Mother is unwell and I have spent this week running round at her beck and call, today saw me heading to the supermarket (on a friday!!) to find food she can swallow, collect milk that she needs and the weekly local paper. Not a chore I was cherishing believe me, as most people know supermarkets are akin to entering the pits of hell to me.

However, I started the day with the news that I had not only passed my last assignment, but had passed with excellent marks (this was compared to the rest of the tutor group :) ) which pleased me immensly, then a little chat with a friend by email, which also had me smiling.

And the supermarket was, for some reason, almost empty, I must have caught it in between rushes, after all this is friday, major shopping day? Walked up to mothers in the beautiful sunshine, spent an hour with her, which was perked up by a visit from the very yummy warden coming to make sure she was ok, he decided to stay and chat a while, and then I sorted Mother out and made sure she had everything she needed for the rest of the day.

Coming back into town, beautiful sunshine, gorgeous view, slightly cooling breeze. And then when I got into town one of the Native Indian groups were there playing pan pipes, I adore the music of pan pipes, they did a beautiful haunting rendition of 'lady in red' as well as Atumn Glow, what a perfect end to a perfect (almost) morning.

And now I am relaxing in my room having just had lunch and not really doing much of anything :)

Hope everyone has had a good day :)

  • People are?

As an avid people watcher I love it when I find other people are doing it too, means I am not the only strange person out there ;)

Being 'unemployed' I have plenty of time for this strange hobby of mine and lately it has become one of the focal points of my day, I find new things to look for, new things to notice. A couple of the things I have tackled this week are 'oap's' and footwear.

My friend Kevin mentioned in passing on here http://eagle-eye.blog.co.uk about the way that people walk, I went a step further (pardon the pun) and looked at what they wear to walk in.

Now I am a shoe person, I have more pairs of shoes than I have clothes, I love shoes, footwear, boots, whatever you place on your feet. I have a particular taste in shoes, and I know exactly what I like and dont like, what looks good and what looks downright stupid. This seems to be something that is lost on many people and I wonder if they wear what they wear simply for comfort? Large plump legs tied up in ribbon is a no no, you want something that slims them down, evens them out and makes them look good, why one earth would you wear wedges with ribbons that go half way up your legs and make it look as though they are cutting off your circulation? Thin legs with fat clumpy shoes, another no no, they make it look as though your legs are going to snap any minute and you are definately having problems in lifting them up? But these are just normal standard no no's, that quite a few disregard, possibly in the name of comfort, possibly because they have a slightly different idea of what looks good than others do, after all we are all different and while I may think these things others might think they are fine?

Now OAP's and shoes, they fascinate me, in fact OAP's and the way that they dress altogether fascinates me 8|

It seems that the older you get, the more bizarre you get, what happened to being able to dress with decorum?

I have several categories for OAP's, we have the ones that still think they are 30 or 40 and dress accordingly right down to the make-up.

We have the ones that think old means gaudy, you need your sunglasses for those ones.

    We have the 'tweed' brigade

And we have the ones that just throw on whatever they can find and don't even bother looking in the mirror before coming out (saying that we have lots of age groups in that category :)) )

Collecting my hard earned (that pen weighs a lot and it is quite a walk to the job centre!)unemployment on a monday gives me lots of scope for OAP watching as this is also pension day. There is one particular lady that fascinates me more than the rest, she has three modes of dress, one she is attending an Ascot Race meeting on ladies day, two she is attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace and three she is lunching with the ladies of the Womens institute. All three styles require pretty dresses that she probably carried off beautifully thirty years or so ago, make up she has put on with a trowel and high heels that she appears to have forgotten how to walk in. She walks (hobbles) sedately (as near as possible while hobbling) past the queue in clouds of perfume, and I mean clouds, you can almost see it let alone taste it! to pick up a leaflet and then walks (hobbles) back to the end of the queue, looking at everyone down the nose and making sure that she touches no one and they do not touch her. Fascinating!! One day I am going to speak to her, because I would love to learn her history.

We have the little old lady in the raincoat (no matter what the weather) with the open toed shoes and seamed toed stockings, we have the gentleman that thinks sandals and black socks go with his suit, we have the couple that wear khaki shorts and hiking boots, with brown shirts and thick socks (all the time it seems) the lady that always wears a tweed suit and flat sensible shoes her husband that always wears a light tan jacket and green flecked trousers, with brown shoes. And a myriad of other weird and wonderful outfits that are far too many to go into in one blog post :))

So as you can see, people watching is keeping me fairly busy, well that and Mother, who is ill at the moment and apparently needs me to run up to hers and back into town every single day to do something or other, never mind, she will soon be moving in with my sister while the council redo her kitchen and bathroom ;)

Hope everyone is having a great day
