I am really tired tonight, but not sleepy! sounds mixed up? I often get that way though, tired but not sleepy tired, more weary I suppose you could call it.It has been another very long day,in order to have tomorrow off I had to do tomorrows work today,as well as todays! So my head is blagged and I can think of nothing brilliant to say,so I shall pop one of my poems on instead, for those of a mind to read it.
The Haunting
I think about that nights events, the things that I had seen.
Was it real,an illusion,or a dark mysterious dream?
It was in the early hours of morning as on my bed I did lay,
Wondering why it was that sleep seemed so far away.
When I heard a strange commotion from beyond the bedroom door
and upon opening it was stunned by the vision that I saw!
It was as though the house had gone back several centuries in time!
The carpets and furnishings I knew that they weren`t mine.
There stood the woman, whose laughter I had heard ring
With skin like alabaster and hair like Ravens wing,
As beautiful as morning,as mysterious as night,
dressed only in nightclothes, flowing and white.
Beyond her he stood, his face angry, his eyes fierce and wild
but his anger only seemed to make her laugh like a child.
He called her name,he swore an oath, his anger fast was growing,
She,merely shook her head and kept the laughter flowing,
he moved and caught her arms as though her body he would shake,
she pushed, and as he stumbled backwards I heard the barrier break!
Time seemed to stop as he hung, suspended for a spell
then,as understanding dawned in his eyes,he fell!
Though eyes and mouth were open he issued not a sound
and I felt rather than heard when he finally hit the ground.
She stood, stock still, and her breath I could not trace,
when she finally turned around there were tears upon her face.
She looked into my eyes she knew all along I was there
and she beckoned me to follow as she made her way to the stairs.
I followed her over long lawns, dark and wet with dew,
as we approached the water I knew what she would do!
With a last sad smile at me,a trembling breath she took
then walked out in the water without a backward look.
I stood and watched the last breath that ever she would take
and her hair fanned out like ribbons on the surface of the lake,
The waters closed around her,in a heartbeat she was gone!
I sat upon the shoreline and waited for the dawn.
