What is it about family get togethers that seem to bring out the worst in people? It seems you can go to any party of any type and if there is family there it is always griping and moaning and arguing.
The worst types of do for fall outs are weddings and christenings and yet Funerals everyone gets along? Its a bit sad when you have to die to get the family to behave!
Anyways, Happy Birthday to Subs, sorry I haven't wished you it earlier Hun, I feel like I am on a merry go round am so busy.

Anyone caught behaving in a dignified manner at my funeral will be escorted off the premises.
I want everyone drunk and behaving badly or I'm not going!

You were lucky- funerals have brought out the worst in my family. When my grandfather died, his 5 children's thought all turned to how to divide the spoils, arguing amongst themselves for months afterwards to ensure that they could get their hands on the biggest slice they could.
My advice- don't hang out with family. There are some exceptions to the rule of course, but most families I know are emotionally unstable, chaotic and filled with disappointment.
The main issue with family being that they see what they want to see, and perceptions of you and/or others were formed long ago, with memories that no longer resemble the present.

You are right about weddings and christenings bringing out the worst in people not sure about funerals only been to a couple (thank goodness) and so don't feel well equipped to comment. But in my somewhat limited experience I would say that people do behave in a more dignified way.
